Zed Editor v1.24.0-pre
Zed Editor v1.24.0-pre has been released as a preview of the v1.24 series. Its availability matters for users and developers who want to obtain and evaluate the upcoming release line before the formal version arrives.
The preview was published on October 7, 2026. Its “pre” designation and description as a v1.24.x preview distinguish it as an early version of the next release series rather than the formal v1.24 release.
Available on GitHub
The preview is available through GitHub, giving interested users and developers early access for evaluation. The associated commit was created on GitHub.com and signed with GitHub’s verified signature.
The release page identifies the item as a “v1.24.x preview for @JosephTLyons.” Beyond that description, the release information focuses on the preview’s availability and status within the v1.24 series.
Evaluate the Release Line
The main purpose stated for v1.24.0-pre is early evaluation of the upcoming release line. Users and developers can obtain the preview ahead of the formal release and use it to examine the v1.24 series at this preliminary stage.
This release does not present v1.24.0-pre as the completed v1.24 version. Instead, it provides an advance opportunity to verify and assess the next series through the preview published on GitHub.
